Hey Jason,

I discovered the course while doing some research trying to find specific types of education when it came to bartending and spirits. I also heard Steve Olson speak at the Grand Marnier Mixology Summit in Vail a couple years back and made it a goal of mine to complete the course.

Nothing really surprised me about the class. I pretty much knew going in that we were all in for a serious intensive experience so I prepared accordingly by brushing up on my cocktail history, cocktail knowledge and tasting spirits blind w/ friends and co-workers at my home bar. Some of the best things I took away were the friendships made and camaraderie built between myself and my fellow classmates. It's a blast running into former classmates around the country. I highly recommend the experience.

Hey Allan,

So sorry for the late response. I've rarely been checking my own site. I guess I need to get better at that huh?

The 5-day classes are generally held the last week in September in NYC at the Astor Center. This years class begins on September 26th and finishes the 30th. The best resource is to regularly check the website. <a href="http://www.beveragealcoholresource.com/index3.html" rel="nofollow"> You can download the app on their website and contact them directly with any questions regarding admissions. Best of Luck!!

Hi I'm interested in Mixology I've been before to NYC a few times and now own and perform my Bar duties in an old Iconic Australian Country Hotel and for a few years have been refining our customers tastes by extending our Wine & Boutique Beer list as well as creating Cocktails to please.
I have heard of the 5day intermediate certificate program and was wondering the costs to have one or two attend & what dates are coming up in the next 12 months.Regards Allan

First of all I'm glad you had a great time at the Varnish. That's always good to hear. You can find rose water in most middle eastern style markets. Also some of the nicer grocery stores such as Whole Foods or Bristol farms will certainly have it.

I got to this blog post the same way as the last commenter did! I had a Gershwin at Varnish this weekend and it was the best cocktail I'd had in awhile (all the drinks my friends and I got were quite tasty, by the way.) So glad I found this! Do you know a good place to find Rose Water, though?
