If you read my first article, or maybe you already knew, you know the numbering system in Spanish from 1-20. Congratulations, now that you have them memorized You are ready for step two: 21 to 100. We will start with 21-30 then the rest up to 100 is easy.
Remember the more you practice the better you become. You should be starting to understand a little better when you are out in the Spanish community. Internalizing, or turning the “natural” language off, only comes with time, practice, and mostly, patience.
Now that we have got you to 20, we will first concentrate on 21-30, and then go from there to 100. It may sound like a lot, but after 20 the numbers get real easy. kishin-fukuoka Remember that uno, has a female (una) and a male (un), and that rule always applies, though I will mention it no more for this article. The reason for the split is that the twenties are a bit different in the pattern than the numbers from 30-99. In speech, this difference may not be noticed, but is there in the written words.
From 21-30 the numbers are:
(21) VIENTIUNO/UN/UNA (Honestly, this is the last time)
So, now you have gone all the way to thirty, now from 31 to 99. Now it is so easy you can’t miss! The pattern is repeated exactly up to 99,see, I said it was real easy. First I will give the numbers 31-40, and then by tens.
from 31-40 the numbers are:
(31) TREINTA Y UNO
(32) TREINTA Y DOS
(33) TREINTA Y TRES
(34) TREINTA Y QUATRO
(35) TREINTA Y CINCO
(36) TREINTA Y SEIS
(37) TREINTA Y SIETE
(38) TREINTA Y OCHO
(39) TREINTA Y NUEVE
Okay. that will make it from 1-99 that you have learned. Now go and practice in the places you went to before, and remember the rule of uno, (Sorry, guess I lied inadvertently), then come back for the third step, one hundred into the millions!
